Understanding the Prophets Conference

Friday, October 14th to Sunday, October 16th

Jefferson Park Baptist Church.

Jefferson Park Baptist Church is honored to host Dr. Peter Gentry for our annual fall conference. This conference will seek to increase trust in the Old Testament Canon and provide literary tools for reading the biblical genre of prophecy. All are welcomed to attend this conference. Dr. Gentry currently serves as the Distinguished Visiting Professor of Old Testament and Senior Research Fellow of the Text & Canon Institute at Phoenix Theological Seminary. He Is the co-author of Kingdom through Covenant and the author of How to Read and Understand the Biblical Prophets.


Conference Schedule

Friday, October 14th

  • 6:00pm to 8:00pm - “Can We Trust the Old Testament?”

  • This session will consider the canonization and transmission of the Old Testament text. There will be a lecture and question/answer session.

Saturday, October 15th

  • 9:00am to 11:30am - “Understanding the Biblical Prophets” (parts 1 and 2)

  • 2:30pm to 5:00pm - “Understanding the Biblical Prophets” (parts 3 and 4)

  • These sessions will consider the genre of Old Testament prophecy and provide tools for reading and understanding the text.

Sunday, October 16th

  • 9:15am to 10:15am - Adult Sunday School Class taught by Dr. Gentry

  • 10:30am to 12:00pm - Sunday Worship Service with sermon by Dr. Gentry.
