Virginia Institute of Theological Training

Virginia Institute of Theological Training (VITT) is a ministry of JPBC that offers instruction and training for those who desire to grow in their faith and be better equipped to help others grow in Christ. We believe churches have the primary responsibility to make disciples and train pastors. We cooperate with other faithful ministries that come alongside churches to help train disciples for ministry.

commitments

God - Doxology. Grow disciples to love the Lord their God with all their heart.

Scripture - Authority. Train disciples to hold firm to the trustworthy Word as taught.

Church - Community. Equip disciples to grow together toward Christ under his Word.

World - Missional. Encourage disciples to proclaim Christ faithfully.

WHO WE TRAIN

VITT is a ministry of the church for the church. Our courses are designed to train and equip believers who are in different stages of their growth or have different desires. Each course can be audited or taken for credit.

The audit option is for believers who want to grow in faith and understanding in order to love God more as well as be better equipped to serve him. This includes lectures, instruction, and discussions open for everyone to participate in. These are also included in the for credit class, but also accessible for everyone.

The for credit option is for those who are pursuing vocational ministry and a full degree or who want to be prepared for faithful lay service in a local church. For those seeking credit through a seminary, there is required reading and assignments. Students also participate in additional course time with discussions and book reviews. Because of our partnership with The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, our classes may be transferred at no additional cost for students.

SPRING 2025

DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY

The doctrine of the Trinity is at the very heart of God’s revelation of himself. All Christian theology and living builds its foundation upon this essential doctrine. Through study of Scripture’s own teachings and the early church’s formulation of Trinitarian doctrine, this course will grow believers to understand and know the triune God more deeply.
